Just changed out the summer quilts.
by GrreatTeacher ini just washed all my summer quilts and put them away for the season.
i brought out the thicker and heavier winter quilts and put them on the beds.. i love patchwork quilts and have a couple of heirloom ones actually made out of the scraps of old family clothes.
my mom can point to a fabric and say," oh, that was a dress of mine when i was little," or, "that was my mother's apron.".

I'd like to see your quilts too great teacher - though I'd never make one. Or if I did it wouldn't look great.
Here in UK it is time to put the fans away and maybe get the hot water bottles out or put on a thicker duvet.
Petrol prices are going up so it could mean panic buying season has just started. Not sure.

good news bad news pandemic and kingdom halls.. first the bad news, coming out of israel - one of the first countries to push total vaccination.
the news is the vaccine especially the pfizer one looks like it wears off and hospital rates have gone up for those that have been vaccinated.

Could they sell them to themselves?
Unless someone is going into maintain the unused halls, they'd get musty.

Do JWs buy old JW books to destroy?

i sell some older jw books on etsy and have always been a bit afraid that some jws are buying them to destroy.
if you have heard of this let me know.

I have bought old literature for research/illustrations.
Funniest purchase was when I asked the person selling the stuff if they were fading or had been df'd. No they hadn't. I shared my experience and received a sweet letter and a Return to Jehovah Brochure. So that went into my collection too.
I think I ought to open a museum and offer teas and coffees. I even have trinkets (that we were encouraged to make and exchange) from the 2014 International Convention. For example a wooden spoon with one diamante on it and the super-rare (maybe) Sophia broach made from a bottle top.

1995 generation change
by Gorb innow, many years later, i remember the 1995 generation change, very well.. since early youth, hearing my father explaining in field service the 2520 years.
it was his main theme in the field.. with the change my doubts started.
with some jw friends we did not trust the organization anymore.

TD I joined in early 90s. Knew nothing of their past. Went through the Live Forever Book. Some teachings were compelling others bonkers. I questioned the bonkers bit big time. Sister studying with me started to agree with me, next 2 elders arrive on my study. I'm still asking my questions, they effectively lied to me but more in the way of being very clever by fudging things, appearing to answer questions but not doing so. They sought to gain my trust rather than reason with me.
"Look if you find anything better, tell us and we will all come with you." That's what one of these elders said.
I fell for their trick - I did not know any better.
Almost 27 years later I said to this same elder "I am certain that the 3rd year of Jehoiakim's rulership is the 3rd year of Jehoiakim's rulership." Then he said "you are irrational."
So you asked do they "believe people are judged based on their receptivity to a tangled, incoherent doctrinal mess that they can't even explain themselves" - I'd say yes. This elder flapped a magazine at me and told me he believed it was the truth cause the mags were translated into so many languages (not that one word was necessarily true).
You said: "When the basic message presented at their Memorial observance starts to fall apart, then so does their most basic claim about themselves and who they are." I say - yes. They are neither Christians nor Jehovah's Witnesses.

i remember there was a family with the last name of arkenberg involved in production among others but i can't find a thing about it online..

Wow Dio - that Aposta Mix is brilliant.
FYI Elder with Bear is/was good friend of CO who df'd my friend Christine. Christine is in her 80s and was a faithful member of the cong who got df'd for just asking the elders about the child abuse issues.
I made a YouTube interviewing her and part way through describe what that CO did. The video is called the Disfellowshipping of Faithful Christine.

One way pioneers used to make the WT study more interesting was by finding unusual words to put into their answers.
Songs could be made more bearable by leaving first letter off each word. Not that you have to sing anymore. Just mute your microphone.
